Many of us have recommendations on what to add into your babies gift registry however, what I will be suggesting is very simple and a must have, especially as during the first year of your babies lives they actually do not need that many stuff.
Here are a few simple ideas that you should definitely add to your list:
I cannot stress this enough but one thing I really appreciated were varied sized nappies. This was a life saver for me as the nappies I was gifted lasted up to when my daughter was 9 months old. This not only saved me a lot of money but also time of not having to worry if there was enough nappy supplies in the house.
Wipes, wipes, wipes ...should I type it again.... Wipes! They are super handy for new parents.... from the numerous amount of nappy changes to quickly wiping food spillages, messy faces.. The list goes on....you'll thank me later.
Nappy bags, you'll be surprised how quickly those rosey nappy smells could turn absolutely fowl once weaning begins ..definitely watch out for this.
Long and short sleeved baby grows. This is handy for both day and night time to make your little one feel nice and cosy.
Cardigans, no matter the weather, you find that cardigans can make a great addition to an outfit, given as the weather especially in the UK fluctuates constantly and babies tend to get colder than us adults, it is just handy to have.
Shawl or blankets are great to wrap those precious babies in for comfort and warmth, plus they look super adorable.
Hats, mittens and socks are great as I notice baby feet tends to get easily cold and also be mindful of those sharp claws, these babies have no chill, you'll find yourself cutting their nails every week.
Teething toys, as some babies, if yours is anything like mine could start teething from 4 months.. The agony those babies must feel is heartbreaking as theres only so much you could do to relieve their pain. Also consider teething powders or gels.
Anti colic baby bottles, colic can be very common with babies when they swallow too much air. Anti colic baby bottles reduces colic significantly and would be very beneficial for your baby.
Next to me bed or a portable bed crib is highly recommended as for the first 6 months your baby ought to stay in the same room as you for their safety. Alternatively you can get a foldable version if you find yourself limited with space, this way you are able to place the baby beside you each night and also save space.
Baby carriers can be really handy especially if you want to quickly place your baby close to you for bonding and helping them feel safe. Just ensure there is enough support towards their head.
Baby strollers, pushchairs or travel systems are also great for outings, you'll just need to test a few out to see what works for you
Car seat, you will need this to take your baby out of the hospital even if you do not own a car. This is what is deemed safe to carry your baby out of the hospital. If you do own a car then you must ensure that the car seat is fitted properly. For more advice on choosing and fitting baby car seats safely, visit the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) website on child car seats.
